The secret behind the paint's mysterious change to color is the Color Wonder paper, which is included with the kit in a 12-page tablet. The tablet contains nine blank pages and three pre-printed coloring book images, and will be sure to provide kids with hours of coloring fun. The four included color cartridges -- orange, cyan, green, and fuchsia -- give kids a versatile palette to work with.  Some limiting factors can affect enjoyment of this toy January 1, 2009
We are huge fans of Color Wonder. One thing I love about Color Wonder is that the items are mix and match. Luckily, we have several other colors of color wonder markers, several pads and coloring books, finger paints, and additional stencils which made this a better toy than what's included.
First, although this is "mess-free" it's really not 100% mess free. When using this toy you'll want to have a towel ready to wipe the stencils off because it will spray on the stencil as well as the paper.
My biggest complaint with this toy is that the 3 stencil sheets included don't work too well with an airbrush. You'll unfortunately end up stenciling nearby designs creating quite a mess on the paper. A set of individual stencils with wide borders might have pushed this up a star and made all the difference.
The only two markers included are yellow and black. I think Crayola, the company of many colors, should have included at least 4 markers. Luckily I had several more Color Wonder markers on hand so our creative juices were not stinted.
Considering the price of this toy, I would have expected more than one pad of 30 sheets. Two pads would have been great.
The batteries installed easily, it takes 4 size "C" batteries, which are not included. Luckily I had a pack of 6 on hand I had picked up at the dollar store to have on hand for occasions like this.
Overall, I think the toy is well-designed. It's fun to use but the accessories were a disappointment, most notably the stencils.
Creative children might just enjoy the regular color wonder pads and markers by themselves.
 Didn't Work & Ruined my Coffee Table!! November 20, 2008

My daughter received this as a birthday gift and was so excited to start playing with it. To her disappointment the sprayer didn't work at all, it just made a loud obnoxious buzzing noise. We tried again and again to get it to work - the only thing that happened was the ink leaked all over the table and actually REMOVED the VARNISH from my coffee table! This is a horrible piece of junk, but a great way to refinish furniture! The only redeeming thing about it was that she was able to use the stencils that were included in the box.

We purchased this product for our son. He was excited when he opened the package but disappointed quickly because it just doesn't work. Once you get all of the batteries in, you pop in the color tube and start spraying. Nothing comes out! We can get ink out of the color tube on our own but once you put it into the sprayer, it doesn't blow out. We tried to get it to work over and over again with no success. It is also loud and annoying when it is turned on. We threw it away about 1 month after purchasing it because the store wouldn't accept the return. I wouldn't recommend buying this product.

Okay, so I bought this and didn't realize that it only worked on 'special paper' (it was my first color-wonder purchase). Color wonder does have its ups and downs, but I am to cheap to keep buying refills. So, I popped open the tubes and put my own dye in the vials/tubes! I have definitely have to 100% supervise my 6 and 4 year olds when using this--we use it outside on huge butcher paper pieces. But it is a lot cheaper to refill and no worries on how much ink they use. Heck, I have even used this sprayer to paint a tye-die looking birthday cake! ( I used the edible dye, found in the cake decorating isle)
I am sure Color wonder doesn't want you to do this and doesn't condone it, either.
But, hey it is way fun to mix my own colors and I'm happy knowing I don't have to keep buying over-priced color-wonder dye.
